Host a Fundraiser

Thank you for your interest in fundraising for the Tennessee Innocence Project (TIP)! 

Hosting a birthday or holiday fundraiser is a powerful way to support our mission of freeing innocent people while celebrating a special occasion for yourself or a loved one. There are multiple ways to fundraise on behalf of TIP—explore your options below: 

Create a Facebook Fundraiser:

If you have a personal Facebook account, you can easily engage your friends and family—no matter where they are—by creating a Facebook fundraiser. 

How to Set Up Your Fundraiser: 

On Desktop: 

  1. Log into Facebook and go to the left-hand panel of your home screen. 

  2. Scroll down and click “Fundraisers.” 

On Mobile (Facebook App): 

  1. Tap the menu icon. 

  2. Scroll down and select “Fundraisers.” 

  3. Search for "Tennessee Innocence Project" and click “Select Nonprofit.” 

  4. Customize your fundraiser: 

  5. Set a fundraising goal and duration. 

  6. Add a personalized description about why you’re supporting TIP. 

  7. Once you’re ready, click “Create.” You can then invite friends to donate and share your fundraiser on social media. 

💡 Where Does the Money Go? 

All funds raised through Facebook are processed via the PayPal Giving Fund and sent directly to TIP. Donation acknowledgments will be mailed to the fundraiser host once funds have been transferred. All donations are 100% tax-deductible. 

Donate in Honor of Someone:

Another way to celebrate a birthday, holiday, or milestone is by making a donation in honor of a loved one through our fundraising platform. 

How to Make an Honorary Gift: 

  1. Visit www.givebutter.com/tninnocence or use the donation link on our website here.

  2. Select “One-Time” and choose your donation amount. 

  3. To make an honorary gift, check the box labeled “Give in honor/memory.” 

  4. Enter the honoree’s name and select whether to notify them by email. 

  5. Click “Continue” and choose whether to remain anonymous. 

  6. Enter your payment details. Note: GiveButter includes a default platform “tip” to support their service. To remove this, select “Other” and enter $0 in the “Custom Tip” box. 

  7. Click “Submit.” You’ll receive a confirmation email, and TIP will send an acknowledgment letter if you are not listed as anonymous. 

Host an Event:

Want to fundraise in person? Hosting an event is a great way to support TIP while engaging your community.

How to Submit Event Donations: 

  • 📬 By Mail (Check or Cash):

    Include the donor’s name, email, or mailing address for tax receipt purposes. 

  • 💻 By Digital Payment: 

    Make an online contribution at www.givebutter.com/tninnocence.
